Hortons’ supports Shepherds barbershop expansion
16 August 2021
One of Birmingham’s most innovative barbershops is to expand, taking on a larger unit in one of the city centre’s most attractive arcades.
Shepherds has agreed a 10-year lease with landlord Hortons’ Estate Ltd for a 470 sq ft shop at Piccadilly Arcade, facing the busy New Street shopping area.
The move sees the barbershop, which has been operating from a smaller unit further along the arcade for the past five years, to move to larger premises, from where it will increase its services to include more barbering facilities and the sale of the Shepherds’ product range.
Fit out is now underway with opening planned in September 2021.
Jeremy Boothroyd, of Hortons’, said: “Shepherds is one our long-standing tenants at Piccadilly Arcade and it is great news that we’ve been able to facilitate its move to a bigger shop that will enable it to grow and evolve.
“Piccadilly Arcade is a thriving retail hub for some of Birmingham’s most innovative independent retailers and it continues to go from strength to strength.”
Valeria Berrazueta, director at Shepherds, said: “We have worked so hard for this opportunity and we can’t wait to show everyone the new and evolved Shepherds. We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with Hortons’ and aim to provide the very best salon experience in Birmingham.”
Unit 11, which Shepherds will be vacating, will be available. The 225 sq ft shop is suitable for all retail and food uses.
