Hortons completes Macdonald Burlington Hotel works

Hortons has unveiled the restored exterior of the Macdonald Burlington Hotel, a mixed-use period building in Birmingham city centre.

Necessary repairs to the Lower Temple Street, Stephenson Street and New Street elevations of the hotel, have been concluded by a specialist contractor.

The works included the repair and replacement of damaged stonework and leadwork, as well as repointing brickwork and repainting the building.

James Fox of Hortons said: “Historic buildings of this kind present unique challenges, which require specialist knowledge and expertise to overcome.

“We have worked closely with the local council and our contractor to deliver this complex restoration project as quickly and safely as possible. I’m sure The Burlington will continue to be one of Birmingham’s most loved buildings for many years to come.”

Originally built in the 1860s and 1870s, The Burlington is said to be Birmingham’s first railway hotel. It now contains hotel, leisure and retail accommodation over seven floors.
