Le Grand arrive for cycle republic

Cycle Republic, which sells premium brand bikes, parts, accessories and clothing, is to open its first outlet in Birmingham at The Grand, on Colmore Row.

The specialist bike shop has agreed a ten-year lease with Hortons’ Estate, owner of The Grand, on the ground and lower ground floor of Unit 7 (2,713 sq ft). The rent is undisclosed.

Launched 18 months ago, Cycle Republic currently has 11 stores across the UK, including Bristol, Manchester, Norwich, Nottingham, Twickenham and across London.

The new store at The Grand will sell a wide range of premium brand bikes including Basso, Boardman and Haibike, as well as a comprehensive range of leading accessory brands such as Pearl Izumi, Gore, Giordana, Bern, Mavic and Kask.

Furthermore, Cycle Republic’s in-store workshop will offer same-day maintenance and servicing, allowing cyclists to drop their bikes off in the morning and be ready for their commute home.

The store is scheduled to open in early July.

Hortons’ Estate has invested £14m in the restoration of The Grand to date, which includes the restoration of the retail units along Colmore Row.

The restored retail space has attracted a number of new occupiers including John Shepherd estate agents, 200 Degrees Coffee, The Alchemist and Gusto, as well as returning tenant Crockett & Jones.

With nine of the ten units now let or under offer, we are close to completing the retail element of the scheme and what will eventually be a vibrant retail and leisure destination for the city.
