Hortons’ canal walkers raise vital funds for Noah’s Star
21 October 2024
Staff from independent property company, Hortons, have completed a c.270 mile canal walk to raise funds for the families of sick and premature babies in the West Midlands.
Teams set off from Knowle, Fazeley and Wolverhampton, with each participant walking more than 20 miles to central Birmingham in aid of local charity, Noah’s Star.
Their exploits have been supported by donations from family and friends, alongside as well as from Hortons colleagues, shareholders and partners.
More than £4,500 has already been raised via Just Giving, with donations being accepted until the end of 2024.
The funds will assist Noah’s Star in providing a wide range of much needed services, including sibling childcare, parent and peer support, community stay and play groups, and counselling services.
Noah’s Star was founded by Jo-Anne Shellum following the premature birth of her twin boys in 2015, and works within neonatal units and children’s hospitals. It was chosen by Hortons’ staff as the company’s charity of the year for 2024.
Jane Phillips of Hortons, who took part in the canal walk challenge, said: “There are a few sore feet amongst us but it was worth every step. Jo-Anne and her team at Noah’s Star do an amazing job in providing help and emotional support for children and families.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has made a donation so far and would encourage others to visit our Just Giving page. Even a small amount can make a huge difference and we want to raise as much as we possibly can for the charity.”
