Thrills, spills and bicycles: Hortons raises more than £20,000 for Leukaemia charity

Hortons’ Estate Ltd has raised more than £20,000 for Leukaemia charity, Prevent ALL, following its annual Rollapaluza roller-racing evening in Birmingham.

Backed by companies from across the property and construction sector, the event saw teams of cyclists battle it out on stationary bikes over a sprint distance, at Revolución de Cuba in the city’s Temple Street.

The evening was in aid of Hortons’ charity of the year, Prevent ALL, which was founded with the dual aim of funding research into the prevention of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL), or other blood related cancers, and providing support for those affected by it.

22 teams took part in the fun Rollapaluza challenge in front of a packed audience of supporters. Crofton Interiors scooped the title of fastest team, with Steve Tommy of Hortons pedalling his way to first place as the quickest individual.

Sponsors included Harris Lamb, JLL, Fisher German, Integrity, MK2, Marsh, Arrow, Align Architecture, Wright Silverwood, PMP Consultants and Crofton Interiors.

Funds raised on the evening were boosted by a separate donation of £10,000 from local charity, Property for Kids, which supports disadvantaged children and young people across the Midlands.

Jane Phillips of Hortons, said: “A huge thank you to all of the sponsors, cyclists and supporters who helped to make it another memorable night and, of course, Property for Kids for their incredible donation.

“We’re extremely grateful for everyone’s contributions, we cannot thank them enough for their generosity and support. As many as 800 children are affected by ALL each year and these vital funds will go some way to supporting those families through treatment.”
