Three Peaks challenge raises thousands of pounds for Prevent ALL
10 October 2023
A team of intrepid walkers from Hortons’ Estate Ltd has raised thousands of pounds for a leukaemia charity after completing the Derbyshire Three Peaks challenge.
Fourteen members of staff battled the elements to cover more than 20 miles in a single walk over the remote mountain tops of Kinder Scout, Bleaklow, and Higher Shelf Stones.
The challenge included 1,000 metres of ascent and descent and took around 10 hours to complete.
Hortons has so far raised £5,500 for its charity of the year, Prevent ALL, which supports research into the prevention of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL), or other blood related cancers, and provides help for those affected by it.
The Three Peaks challenge is part of a calendar of fundraising initiatives on behalf of Prevent ALL, which also included a £20,000 donation following Hortons’ annual Rollapaluza roller-racing evening in Birmingham.
Jane Phillips of Hortons, said: “We are thrilled to have completed the Three Peaks challenge. It was an extremely tough walk and wasn’t helped by having to go a little further than originally planned by mistakenly taking a short detour!
“We are hugely grateful for the support we have received from everyone who has kindly donated, it is incredibly rewarding to have already smashed our fundraising target. We know that these vital funds will allow Prevent ALL to continue to do an incredible job in assisting families going through some very challenging times.”
